Client Success Story
How Oracle WMS empowered a global automotive manufacturer to transform its warehouse processes.
The Challenge
Accelalpha recently implemented Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) Cloud for a significant manufacturer and global exporter of precision industrial and automotive bearing products. Besides its existing barcode scanning capabilities, the organization needed advanced warehouse management functionality in the cloud that could communicate with their JD Edwards system.
Oracle was the organization's first choice since they are an existing Oracle customer using a JD Edwards legacy ERP system to run their operations. Accelalpha was then selected to implement Oracle WMS Cloud at the organization's distribution center to improve warehouse efficiency with best-practice, standardized processes.
Our Approach:
Once Oracle brought Accelalpha onto the project, we conducted a walkthrough on-site with the distribution center's Senior Director of Logistics to understand the project's scope. The organization communicated that deliveries spent too much time on the receiving dock while warehouse staff tried to find spots in a seemingly full warehouse to store the incoming product. This resulted in a build-up of partially filled pallets spread over the warehouse, causing it to appear more full than it actually was.
Accelalpha won the organization's trust by demonstrating not only our Oracle WMS Cloud implementation expertise but also our understanding of the warehouse processes. Accelalpha presented a detailed plan of how we would implement Oracle WMS Cloud to solve the customer’s existing issues and enable future growth. Time-saving automated processes and increased employee productivity would enable them to gain more efficiency and inventory visibility.
The Results:
Accelalpha was able to help the organization solve its critical warehouse management problems with this implementation. Oracle WMS Cloud has provided the organization with comprehensive warehouse management, including the ability to
- Consolidate and map the warehouse floor plan.
- Organize the warehouse.
- Develop a defined system for product put away.
In addition to simplifying processes like product order pulling and managing inventory counts, WMS has helped the organization increase its overall warehouse efficiency.
With Oracle WMS Cloud, they now have a warehouse solution that can handle the coordination and, when applicable, automate tasks and shorten the dock-to-stock process. Additionally, the organization can now fill outbound orders more efficiently and has simplified its kitting operations.
