The Company

Oechsle Department Store is a part of the Intercorp Group, a business group committed to the development and welfare of Peruvian families. Intercorp Group is a leader in the banking, insurance, retail, real estate, and education sectors. They provide personalized advice and integral solutions regarding supply chain needs for companies and institutions nationwide during critical dates on the commercial calendar.

With over 20 stores in Peru, Oechsle makes up 13% of the market share due to the company's ability to offer customers competitive pricing and a credit system based on the consumer's needs. Oechsle's logistics are supported by their distribution center that handles store replenishment, E-Commerce, & home delivery processes.

The Challenge

As the COVID-19 pandemic influenced more consumers to change their shopping habits from in-store to online purchasing, Oechsle faced the increasing challenge of managing shipments, orders, Click and Collect services, and home delivery throughout Peru. With Oechsle's intent to scale, it was evident that its logistics processes must evolve to manage the additional orders and demands. As a result, they realized that the Oracle Warehouse Management System (WMS) was the most obvious solution to meet their growing challenges.

 

The Solution

Because of their extensive knowledge and proficiency with Oracle Warehouse Management System (WMS), LogistiChange was selected as the solution implementation partner for this project. With their excellent grasp of E-Commerce, logistics processes, and the operation of the client's legacy systems, LogistiChange helped bring about successful results within the first week of operation. This was accomplished by implementing Oracle WMS in Oechsle's E-Commerce distribution center, which enabled them to effectively manage the flow of orders with Click & collect services in over 20 stores, and home deliveries throughout Peru.

 

The Results

The solution has supported growth in Oechsle's orders, delivery volume, and increased preparation productivity by 300% in high-demand processes such as Cyber Day, in addition to providing management visibility in the Distribution Center for each service order. Big bag implementation assisted in managing over 2,500 orders during the first peak Cyber Day. In addition, the Oracle WMS solution helped improve inventory accuracy and traceability, order consolidation, and enhanced communication across multiple channels within the company.
